One of the fourteen tapestries called "l'histoire du Roi" (the story of the King).Woven at the Gobelins during the second half of the XVII century to glorify the king's life and to decorate his new Versailles palace. The city of Lille, in the Flanders, was taken over the Spaniards in 1667. The king, Louis the XVI is seen with his military commanders Vauben and Turenne.
This medieval tapestry comes backed with lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
