The intricate patterns woven into it comprise of birds set against a floral background. The striking color combinations that are used catch the eye almost as soon as one, steps into the room that houses it. Birds and beasts have long been the subject of many medieval tapestries.
Going back in time, one is able to observe the abundance of these patterns in both French as well as Belgian tapestries. Those weaving these works of art originally drew their inspiration from folk tales and ballads that involved birds and creatures of the jungle.
These stories were then woven onto tapestries that can be viewed even today in some medieval museums. Bringing one of these into your room also brings in that magical touch of myths and storytelling that inspired the first of these creations.
Folk Art Birds measures H 35 x W 47 inches.
