This tapestry called Acanthe (Green) is inspired by the original artwork of William Morris in the late 19th century. He was one of the principal founders of the British Arts and Crafts movement, that believed in hand woven art as opposed to machine made, mass produced work. His work reflects this philosophy – brilliant pieces of art, with the distinct stamp of a master craftsperson.
This tapestry is hand woven in France and has a detailed and intricate background – leaves and flowers in vibrant hues, blending in perfect harmony. Tinges of powder blue flowers and a single lilac colored flower enhance the visual appeal. The stylized acanthus leaves in the foreground twirls audaciously upward, the foliage, a golden glow against the floral backdrop. The tapestry is steeped in dark olive green, the deep color visible on the ends of this vertical tapestry.
Acanthe (green) is backed with lining and tunnel for easy hanging. This product is a blend of 50% wool and 40% cotton.
This tapestry comes in three sizes to choose from: H 38 x W 28, H 58 x W 28 and H 74 x W 28 inches.
